Basic Controls and Screen Layout

PlayStation 4 Controller Layout: The image below details the button locations and functions for the control of the game.

The character is moved around the screen using the left analogue joystick. The left and right “shoulder” buttons denoted L1 and R1 are used to rotate the camera angle to better view the character as it moves behind or around obstacles. While the character travels around the environment, a map is automatically created by the game and can be viewed by either swiping or pressing the touch sensor pad. As the character travels around the environment they will need to interact with various aspects of the game. There will be an onscreen prompt to press the blue “X” button in order to complete the action. Note that for certain actions “X” will need to be pressed repeatedly. If there is an alternative action associated with an aspect of the game, the red “O” can be used to execute this function. This button can also cancel a previous action if pressed before the action is complete. Whenever items are collected by the character, they are placed in the inventory. The inventory can be viewed by used by pulling the right trigger button denoted as R2 and moving the right analogue stick to select an item. While an inventory item is highlighted, the player can select several interaction options using the directional buttons located on the left side of the controller. Pressing the top directional button will further inspect the highlighted item. Pressing left will have the character use the item for its function regarding the surrounding world. The right directional button will cause the character to use the item on them. The bottom directional button will cause the character to drop the item from the inventory onto the ground. If a weapon is selected from the inventory and is equipped by the character, it can be used to deal damage to an enemy by pressing the pink square button. The green triangle button can be pressed to inspect something before picking it up or interacting with it. The crafting menu can be accessed by pressing L2 and using the left stick to navigate it. The game may be paused at any time using the options button located next to the touch sensor pad.
